Thailand is famous for its tropical beaches and dreamy islands, and Phuket is no exception. However, most of them have become extremely touristy, and truly untouched beaches are getting harder to find. Still, if you know where to look, paradise hasn’t disappeared — it’s just hiding a little better.
The good news is that there are still incredible places that don’t show up in typical travel guides or on the average tourist’s must-see list. These are the spots where you can still hear the waves louder than the crowds and feel like you’ve discovered something special on your own.
If you’re planning to stay in Phuket but aren’t sure where to base yourself, I highly recommend the Surin Beach area. It’s not only beautiful and more relaxed than other parts of the island, but it’s also known for having several affordable Muay Thai training gyms nearby. It’s the kind of place where you can train in the morning and swim in crystal-clear water by sunset.
And the best part? Some postcard-perfect places are just minutes away — peaceful, scenic, and far from the usual tourist rush.
Hidden Beach in Phuket You Can Only Reach by Trail
Right next to Surin Beach, there’s a secret little paradise known as Cape Singh Beach (you can find it on Google Maps under that name). To reach it, you need to walk toward the left side of Surin Beach, where the adventure begins. It already feels like you’re heading somewhere only a few people know about.

Once you enter Surin Beach, walk almost all the way to the end, near the rocks where the sea meets the cliffs. There you’ll find a small opening with a trail that leads to this hidden beach. It doesn’t look like much at first, but that’s part of the magic — the best places don’t come with big signs.
The trail isn’t difficult, and it takes about 15 minutes to reach the beach. Very important: bring your own food and water, because there are no facilities there. Occasionally, locals pass by selling cold drinks, but you can’t rely on it — which makes the place feel even more remote and untouched.

When you finally arrive, all that’s left to do is relax and enjoy the stunning views. We went in the afternoon and there were barely any people, just the sound of the waves and the breeze through the trees. It felt like our own private beach, the kind of place you daydream about long after your trip ends.
Why the Similan Islands Are Among Thailand’s Most Beautiful Islands
We decided to visit the Similan Islands because they weren’t too far from where we were staying, and many locals highly recommended them. We’re so glad we listened — it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Sometimes the best travel decisions come from local tips rather than online rankings.
These islands are absolutely stunning. There are no permanent houses, and visitors usually arrive in small groups, so it never feels overly crowded. The beaches look almost unreal, with white sand so soft it feels like walking on flour.
The first island we visited was Ko Miang, where the water was unbelievably clear and the jungle met the sea in the most dramatic way. It’s the kind of scenery that makes you stop talking for a moment just to take it all in.
After that, we went snorkeling and saw colorful fish and beautiful coral reefs. Just a heads-up: Thailand has quite a lot of jellyfish, so it’s important to be aware while swimming. Even so, floating above the reef felt like entering a completely different world beneath the surface.
Later, we visited another island within Mu Ko Similan National Park, where we had lunch and even got a visit from a curious local animal. Afterward, we did a long hike up to the top of the mountain for breathtaking views of the beach below. At the summit, people love taking photos on a famous rock — but be careful, as there are no railings or protection, and the drop is steep. Wear non-slip shoes for the hike, especially if the ground is damp.

If you’re like me and want to see the famous tourist attractions but also discover quieter, more local places away from the crowds, these two spots near Phuket are perfect for you. They offer a different side of Thailand — peaceful, raw, and unforgettable.
Trust me, after visiting these hidden gems, you’ll be grateful you went a little off the beaten path.
